Roswell, 1947

FILE DATE 1947
CROSS-REFS 12
STATUS NEVER CLOSED
SUMMARY
A "flying disc," said the Army's own press release. The correction came the next morning.
FULL DOSSIER
The Army Air Force issued the press release itself — 'RAAF Captures Flying Saucer' — then retracted it in eighteen hours, and spent fifty years cycling through explanations: weather balloon, Mogul balloon, crash-test dummies dropped years later. The rancher was held for days; the base's officers signed affidavits into their old age. Whatever fell at Foster Ranch, the file's behavior is its own exhibit.
