LifeLog

FILE DATE 2004

STATUS NEVER CLOSED
SUMMARY
DARPA's plan to record a whole life ended February 4, 2004 — the day Facebook launched.
FULL DOSSIER
DARPA's proposal, in its own words: capture 'everything a person says, sees, or does,' index it, and model the life. Privacy advocates killed it in February 2004. The same week, thefacebook.com opened at Harvard, and In-Q-Tel money was already circulating through the Valley. No document connects them. The theory's entire content is a calendar and a shrug — which, its adherents note, is more evidence than most official coincidences ever supply.
