FULL DOSSIER

Somewhere under the Colorado Rockies, behind a pair of 25-ton blast doors, there's a city built to survive the end of the world. That part isn't a theory. You can take the tour. This file is about Deep Underground Military Bases, 'DUMBs,' and it's a story where the documented truth is genuinely astonishing and the legend built on top of it goes somewhere else entirely. Start with what's DOCUMENTED, because it's remarkable on its own. Cheyenne Mountain Complex: the Army Corps of Engineers broke ground in June 1961, blasted out roughly 693,000 tons of granite, and by 1966 had installed an entire NORAD command center inside the mountain, 15 freestanding buildings mounted on massive steel springs to ride out a nuclear near-miss, sealed behind blast doors, wired to warn North America of missile attack. It cost about $142 million and it is entirely real. Then there's Raven Rock Mountain Complex, 'Site R,' near the Pennsylvania-Maryland line. The Army began construction in 1951 and opened it in 1953. Today it's a division of the Washington Headquarters Services, an alternate command center sometimes called the 'underground Pentagon,' the place leadership would run to in a crisis. Documented. On the record. Its neighbor RAVEN-ROCK carries the full file. So the core claim of the DUMBs mythos, that the U.S. government builds enormous secret facilities deep underground, is, at its foundation, TRUE. And that's exactly what makes the next part so seductive. Because here's where it gets strange. The LEGEND says Cheyenne Mountain and Raven Rock are just the visible tip of a vast, hidden continental network: dozens or hundreds of secret bases connected by high-speed underground maglev tunnels, some jointly operated with extraterrestrials. The most infamous is DULCE, a supposed multi-level alien-human base beneath a mesa in northern New Mexico, popularized in the 1980s by businessman Paul Bennewitz and later by an alleged 'security officer' named Thomas Castello, whose 'Dulce Papers' describe genetic experiments and firefights on the lower levels. Its neighbor node DULCE holds that thread. But here's the part most people don't know: not one of those mega-network claims has ever been substantiated. No verified tunnel between installations. No confirmed Dulce base; the primary sources trace back to a handful of individuals, disputed documents, and a UFO-community feedback loop, not to engineering records or budgets. The documented bunkers are hardened, expensive, and real. The secret alien archipelago connecting them is UNPROVEN, and the evidence for it is legend, not record. That's the whole job of this file: to hold both truths at once without collapsing them into each other. Yes, the government built astonishing holes in mountains. No, that does not establish a coast-to-coast alien subway. On the map, DUMBS is the hinge, documented fact on one side (RAVEN-ROCK, Cheyenne Mountain), speculative folklore on the other (DULCE). Walk in through the real blast doors. Just know exactly where the pavement ends.
