The Stasi's documented doctrine (Directive 1/76, in the archives): 'decomposition' of targets through covert life-sabotage — entering homes to move furniture, engineered career failures, rumor campaigns, relationship destruction — chosen precisely because victims reporting it sounded paranoid.
