Another vanished continent. The maps were burned, the story survived.

Mu descends from Augustus Le Plongeon's misreading of the Troano Codex and James Churchward's claimed Naacal tablets (never produced). Geology rules out a sunken Pacific continent. The node persists because real Pacific anomalies keep getting filed under it — Yonaguni, Nan Madol, Easter Island — sites whose genuine strangeness outlives the continent invented to explain them.
