Mel's Hole
SUMMARY
A pit in Washington with no bottom and a talk-radio legend that swallowed the land records.
FULL DOSSIER
Mel's Hole exists only in radio: Mel Waters' 1997-2002 Art Bell appearances describing a bottomless pit on his Washington property that resurrected animals and unspooled 80,000 feet of line. No property records for Waters exist in the county (checked by reporters); no hole has been found. The node is retained as the archive's specimen of pure oral legend in the broadcast age — a coordinates-free myth that generated real search parties — and as a marker of Coast to Coast AM's role as the ecosystem's incubator.
