Cryptozoology's ledger has both columns documented: former cryptids now cataloged (okapi 1901, coelacanth 1938, giant squid photographed live 2004) — the field's standing argument — and its failures (every primate claim, the Loch Ness eDNA null). The ISC (International Society of Cryptozoology, 1982-98) attempted academic form and dissolved. The node functions as the category hub, linking bigfoot, Nessie, Mothman, and the epistemic question the archive keeps returning to: how many witnesses does a species need?
