Here's a strange one. In 1989, a man told the world that alien spacecraft were powered by an element that, at the time, did not exist. Not 'undiscovered in nature.' Not 'rare.' It simply had no place on the periodic table. Square 115 was blank. And then, years later, scientists actually made it. So the question that keeps people up at night is: did BOB LAZAR know something, or did he just get lucky?
Let's document what Lazar claimed. He said the reactor inside the saucer at S-4 ran on a super-heavy, stable element with 115 protons. He described feeding a small triangular wafer of it into the machine, where it produced antimatter and, crucially, its own gravitational field — a field the craft could amplify and aim to warp the space in front of it and effectively fall forward. Antigravity, in other words, powered by ELEMENT 115. He even said he'd been given a supply of it to work with.
So here's where it gets strange, and here's the DOCUMENTED science. Element 115 is real. In 2003, a joint Russian-American team at Dubna announced they had synthesized it by slamming calcium ions into americium. The discovery was independently confirmed, and in 2016 the element was officially named — moscovium, symbol Mc — and took its place in that once-empty square. Lazar had named the fuel of his saucer fifteen years before anyone made a single atom of it.
But — and this is the whole thing — you have to read the fine print. The moscovium we can actually create is nothing like the substance Lazar described. His element 115 was STABLE. You could hold it, machine it, stockpile it, run a reactor on it for years. Real moscovium is violently radioactive and decays in milliseconds. It doesn't last long enough to weigh, let alone to shape into a wafer or pour into an engine. Every atom ever made has vanished almost the instant it appeared.
And that's the irony worth sitting with. Lazar's defenders point at the periodic table and say, look, he called it — 115 is real. His critics point at the SAME square and say, look closer — the real 115 is the exact opposite of what he described, a flicker of decay, not a wellspring of antigravity. Both are looking at the truth. It just refuses to settle the argument.
Now, physicists do talk about a theoretical 'island of stability' — a region of super-heavy elements that might, in some untested isotope, live far longer than the ones we've made. Lazar's supporters lean on that idea. But no such stable isotope of 115 has ever been observed, and moscovium as it actually exists is not it.
So place it on the map. Element 115 sits tethered to two nodes. One line runs to S-4, the hangar where Lazar says he handled it. The other runs to ANTIGRAVITY, the impossible propulsion it was supposed to make possible. It is the one piece of Lazar's story that the real world partly reached out and touched — and then, in the same motion, quietly contradicted.
