Dropa Stones

Grooved discs from a Himalayan cave telling of a crash 12,000 years ago. The discs, like the discoverers, cannot be found.

The Dropa stones story — grooved discs recording a crash landing 12,000 years ago, found in Bayan Har caves — cannot be traced past a 1960s German magazine article; the discs, the discoverer (Tsum Um Nui), and the institute named have never been located. It is retained as a documented specimen of a self-citing legend: the artifact that exists only in retellings.
