Directed Energy Weapons

Lasers and microwaves, real and fielded. Every anomalous fire now gets the acronym.

Directed-energy weapons are fielded systems: the Navy's LaWS laser deployed 2014, THOR microwave counter-drone systems, the retired Airborne Laser. The folklore extends them to wildfire attribution (Maui, California), for which investigations found conventional causes.
