From 1934 Tesla publicly described 'Teleforce' — a charged-particle beam to stop armies and planes at 200 miles. He shopped it to multiple governments; no working prototype existed. The FBI file confirms official interest in the papers after his death. The link chain runs to modern directed-energy weapons (real, fielded) and to Tunguska via a legend (unsupported) that he tested it in 1908.
