Derinkuyu
SUMMARY
An eighteen-story city carved downward. Twenty thousand people hid here — from what?
FULL DOSSIER
Derinkuyu (Cappadocia) is real: an 18-level underground city with ventilation shafts, rolling stone doors, and capacity estimates around 20,000 — connected by tunnel to other underground cities. Dating is disputed (Phrygian origins, Byzantine expansion); the unanswered question is the scale of threat that justifies engineering an entire civilization underground. Links: the DUMB lore (its modern echo) and Agartha (its mythic reading).
