Here's a woman who was, by any measure, a real public figure. Candy Jones — born Jessica Wilcox — was one of America's most famous pinup models and cover girls of the 1940s, later a modeling-agency executive and a name people knew. That's what makes what came next so hard to look away from. By the early 1970s, Candy Jones had married the radio personality Long John Nebel. And her husband noticed something wrong. In 1976, the writer Donald Bain published these sessions and claims as a book, "The Control of Candy Jones." And that's the crucial thing for you to hold onto. Almost everything in this story traces back to those hypnosis tapes and that book — to Candy Jones's own account, recovered under hypnosis by her own husband, who was not a neutral investigator.
