Fourteen hundred Cuban exiles wade ashore at a swampy beach called Playa Giron, certain American planes are right behind them and that the island will rise up to greet them. Neither thing happens. Within three days most are dead or captured. And a young president is left staring at the smoking wreck of a plan he inherited, wondering who exactly he can trust.
