Baalbek Trilithon

FILE DATE 9000 BC
CROSS-REFS 05
STATUS NEVER CLOSED
SUMMARY
Thousand-ton stones lifted by no crane we know. The Romans built on someone else's floor.
FULL DOSSIER
The Baalbek trilithon stones (~800 tons each, with a 1,000+ ton block still in the quarry) are among the largest ever moved. Roman engineering explanations exist — but no Roman record describes moving them, and the podium may predate the temple above it. The genuine open question of method links it to Puma Punku, Sacsayhuamán, and the Serapeum: the archive's 'megalithic problem' cluster.
