Ark of the Covenant
SUMMARY
A gold-clad box that killed the unwary. Ethiopia says it has it. No one may look.
FULL DOSSIER
The gold-covered chest of Exodus, last placed in Solomon's Temple, absent from the record after Babylon sacked Jerusalem in 587 BC. Claims of possession: the Ethiopian Orthodox Church at Axum (guarded by one monk, shown to no one, ever), Tanis lore, Temple Mount excavation rumors. Documented: the Axum tradition genuinely dates back centuries and the church has never permitted inspection — a perfect, permanently unfalsifiable custody claim. The Ark is the template for every 'the proof exists but is sealed in a vault' story downstream of it.
