FILE DATE 8000 BC
CROSS-REFS 02
STATUS NEVER CLOSED
SUMMARY
Terraced stone beneath Japanese waters. A city, divers insist. A formation, geology sighs.
FULL DOSSIER
The Yonaguni monument (discovered 1986) is a stepped sandstone formation off Japan. Masaaki Kimura (marine geologist) argues modification by human hands; Robert Schoch, who dove it, concluded natural bedding and jointing. Unresolved in the literature, it links the Mu/sunken-land thread to the real post-glacial sea-rise that drowned coastlines worldwide c. 8000 BCE.
