The claim: that Seth Rich, not Russian hackers, had leaked the DNC's emails to WikiLeaks, and was murdered to silence him. It was gripping. It was clickable. In July 2018 a federal grand jury indicted twelve officers of Russia's GRU military intelligence service for hacking the DNC, the DCCC, and the Clinton campaign, the Justice Department's own conclusion about who took those emails. A Yahoo News investigation later documented that Russia's SVR foreign-intelligence service had seeded the Seth-Rich-was-the-leaker narrative in the first place, disinformation laundered into American media. And in 2020, Fox News settled a lawsuit with Seth's parents, Joel and Mary Rich, after publishing and then retracting a story built on that false claim. Retracted. Settled. That is not a rumor about Fox; it is Fox's own resolution. Center this: the family. Joel and Mary Rich, and Seth's brother Aaron, spent years being told their murdered son was a criminal, harassed by strangers who never met him, forced into court simply to defend the memory of a young man who fixed polling-place software.
