Six miles from Camp David, where presidents go to relax, there's a mountain that will never appear on a tourist brochure. Inside, according to those records, are multi-story freestanding buildings set on springs inside the excavated caverns, a reservoir, power generation, and communications links binding it to the rest of the continuity network. So here's where it gets strange. For decades the government would neither confirm nor deny what happened at Site R, and the secrecy bred stories. On 9/11, Vice President Cheney's staff were moved toward secure facilities, and reporting placed elements of the leadership at Raven Rock that day — a rare, DOCUMENTED glimpse of the bunker doing exactly what it was built for. From that seed grew wider SPECULATION: that Raven Rock is far larger than admitted, a self-contained subterranean base, a hub in an alleged coast-to-coast web of tunnels.
