McKenna's 'self-transforming machine elves' (his documented coinage for DMT-space entities) became a research object: Strassman's subjects reported entity contact in ~half of high-dose sessions; the 2020 Johns Hopkins entity-encounter survey (2,561 respondents, published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology) found encounters with autonomous-seeming beings producing lasting belief changes — documented, whatever their ontology.
