Lookout Mountain Laboratory (1947-69): a 100,000-square-foot classified film studio in Laurel Canyon producing nuclear test footage and defense films, with cleared Hollywood personnel — fully documented since declassification (Hamilton and O'Gorman's 'Lookout America!'). Its coexistence with the counterculture's crucible one canyon over is the coincidence McGowan's thesis inhabits.
