The Harmonic Convergence, August 16-17, 1987: the first globally synchronized meditation event, called by José Argüelles from his reading of Maya calendrics and Aztec prophecy, drawing crowds to 'power centers' from Sedona to Glastonbury. Documented: the event, the tens of thousands of participants, the international press coverage. It marks the operational birth of the modern awakening network — the infrastructure (sacred sites, synchronized intention, calendar mysticism) that 2012 and 'the Event' later ran on.
