Michael Persinger's 'god helmet' (Laurentian University): weak, patterned magnetic fields over the temporal lobes produced sensed presences in a substantial fraction of subjects across published studies. A Swedish replication attempt (Granqvist, 2005) found suggestion explained the results; the dispute is unresolved in the literature.
