Geronimo's Skull

FILE DATE 1918
CROSS-REFS 01
STATUS NEVER CLOSED
SUMMARY
Prescott Bush's crew, the story goes, robbed a grave for the tomb's trophy case.
FULL DOSSIER
The claim: Prescott Bush and fellow Bonesmen dug up Geronimo's remains at Fort Sill in 1918. Documented layer: a 1918 letter between Bonesmen ('the skull of the worthy Geronimo the Terrible, exhumed from its tomb...') surfaced in 2005 from Yale's own archives; the 2009 lawsuit by Geronimo's descendants (Ramsey Clark filing) was dismissed on sovereign-immunity and jurisdiction grounds without reaching the facts; Fort Sill historians doubt the grave was located. The letter is real; what was actually taken is unresolved.
