Flatwoods Monster

FILE DATE 1952
CROSS-REFS 02
STATUS NEVER CLOSED
SUMMARY
A crashed light, a hilltop, and a ten-foot figure with a spade-shaped head. Half the town drew the same thing.
FULL DOSSIER
September 12, 1952: after a fireball crossed six states (astronomically, a bolide), a Flatwoods, West Virginia group climbing toward the presumed crash met a hissing ten-foot figure with a spade-shaped cowl and glowing eyes; several were treated for shock and irritation consistent with mist exposure. Investigator Gray Barker's coverage of this case launched both his career and, via Bender's subsequent visitors, the Men in Black literature. Filed with Kelly-Hopkinsville as the encounter class where description exceeds the saucer template entirely.
