The Old Encounters

FILE DATE 1200
CROSS-REFS 03
STATUS NEVER CLOSED
SUMMARY
Fairies took people into hills; lights led travelers astray. Same story, older costume.
FULL DOSSIER
The old encounter corpus: abduction by the Good Folk, missing time under the hill, changelings left in cribs, lights on the moor — documented in centuries of testimony collected by Evans-Wentz ('The Fairy-Faith in Celtic Countries,' 1911) and others. Vallée and Bullard's folklore scholarship mapped the structural identity with modern abduction reports: paralysis, small beings, reproductive interest, gifts with rules. Either the same phenomenon wears each era's costume, or human minds generate the same story under strain. Both readings are on file; choose your thread.
