Type the words "the Crown" into any conspiracy forum and stand back. Magna Carta in 1215 actually contains a clause guaranteeing the City of London its "ancient liberties." That is real, and it's part of why the Corporation feels like a survivor from another age. Now, here's where it gets strange, and where the conspiracy takes a real thing and bends it. The word "Crown" in British law is a term of art. When lawyers say "the Crown," they usually don't mean the physical monarch as a person.
