Cambridge Apostles
SUMMARY
An undergraduate secret society that produced philosophers, spies — and the Cambridge Five.
FULL DOSSIER
The Cambridge Conversazione Society (founded 1820): an elected, secretive discussion society whose alumni include Keynes, Wittgenstein's circle, and — consequentially — Guy Burgess and Anthony Blunt of the Cambridge Five. The Soviet penetration is exhaustively documented (Blunt's confession, released MI5 files); the Apostles connection was the recruitment substrate, not the plot. The node marks the documented case of an elite secret society actually functioning as an espionage vector — the pattern the American tomb theories allege, confirmed once, in England.
