November 1989 to April 1990: thousands of Belgians, including police units, reported low, silent black triangles. On the night of March 30-31, two F-16s were scrambled and their radars locked objects that descended 3,000 meters in seconds — the Belgian Air Force held a press conference presenting the tapes, an unprecedented official act. Later analysis attributed some radar returns to atmospherics, and the famous triangle photo was confessed a hoax in 2011 — but the mass visual reports and the Air Force's cooperation stand.
